St. Louis County Executive, First Responders Break Ground on New Fire Training Tower

St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger will break ground on a new fire training tower at the Police Fire Training Center on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the County Fire Academy at 1266 Sutter Avenue in Wellston.

The new fire training tower will provide the necessary environment to offer modern and vital education to professional firefighters; thereby ensuring quality, uniform firefighter training to meet the changing needs of firefighters and better ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens and firefighters.

“This addition comes as the 100th recruit class is currently training at the center,” County Executive Steve Stenger said. “It is critical to continue to give our first responders the best possible training and resources.” The current fire tower is 28 years old and has been out of service for several years due to deterioration.

County Executive Stenger will be joined by several local fire chiefs at Monday’s ceremony.
