Are you a student looking for an opportunity for training and experience in public health?

We hope you will join the Saint Louis County Department of Public Health in providing a full array of services that includes environmental health protection, communicable disease control, public health administration, and medical and research services. Saint Louis County Department of Public Health promotes optimal health for people who live, work, or visit the County. This is accomplished by monitoring and assessing the public health status of the County, and developing programs and policies that prevent illness or injury.


The Saint Louis County Department of Public Health created the internship program to provide hands-on work experience opportunities for college level students, both graduate and undergraduate so that they can apply their skills and knowledge in the “real world” while making a meaningful contribution to the public health of Saint Louis County. Applications are matched with specific internship opportunities in various programs within the Saint Louis County Department of Public Health. The Department employs approximately 500 employees who play vital roles in public health.


An intern is an individual who works with the Saint Louis County Public Health Department while also attending an accredited college or university, a trade/vocational school, or a business school on a full-time or part-time basis. The majority of the Public Health Department internships are not paid.
