Our Mission…

The Healthy Homes/Lead Poisoning Prevention Program's mission is to improve the environmental health of residents and visitors of Saint Louis County through promoting healthy housing and eliminating the incidence and prevalence of lead poisoning for all who live in or visit Saint Louis County.

The Healthy Homes/Lead Poisoning Prevention Program addresses multiple childhood diseases and injuries in the home. We take a holistic and comprehensive approach to these activities by focusing on housing-related hazards in a coordinated fashion, rather than addressing a single hazard at a time. Environmental concerns include mold, lead, allergens, asthma, carbon monoxide, home safety, pesticides, and radon. Some of Saint Louis Department of Health’s highest priorities include lead poisoning prevention and reducing asthma triggers in the home environment.

Free home inspections for lead-based paint hazards for county residents (call for details)

Healthy home assessments

On-site blood-lead testing for childcare facilities

Case management and care coordination for children with elevated blood lead levels

Participation in health fairs and community events
