Hours of Operations

The Bureau of Communications functions on a full time basis. Full time is defined as 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. There are three shifts operating daily; Day Watch (6:30 am – 2:30 pm / 6:30 am - 6:30 pm), Afternoon Watch (2:30 pm – 10:30 pm  / 2:30 pm - 2:30 am) and a Midnight Watch (6:30 pm – 6:30 am / 10:30 pm - 6:30 am).

Staffing and Authorized Strength

The Bureau has an authorized staff of 79 consisting of the following:

 

 Commander (CAPT)
 Deputy Directors 2
 Administrative Staff 2
 Public Safety Dispatchers III 3
 Public Safety Dispatchers II 9
 Public Safety Dispatchers 59
 Public Safety Dispatcher - On Call  
 Public Safety Dispatcher Intermittent            1

Staff is divided into three (3) Platoons permanent shifts - A Platoon (Days), B Platoons (Afternoons),  and C Platoon (Midnights). The shifts are staffed as follows:

  • A Platoon – One (1) PSD III, Three (3) PSD II and 21 PSDs
  • B Platoon – One (1) PSD III, Three (3) PSD II and 20 PSDs
  • C Platoon – One (1) PSD III, Three (3) PSD II and 18 PSDs
