36th Annual Memorial Ceremony

For Immediate Release

The Thirty-Sixth Annual Uniform Day Memorial Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 in the St. Louis County Government Memorial Park, behind Police Headquarters and in front of the courts building, located at 7900 Carondelet in Clayton. The public is invited to attend the 10:00 AM ceremony sponsored by the St. Louis County Police Department.

Participating in the solemn program will be a police and fire honor guard, a police rifle squad and the St. Louis County Police Pipes and Drums. The traditional ceremony will consist of the posting of colors, a roll call of the deceased and a 16 volley shotgun salute.

The Keynote Speaker will be the Honorable Judge Mary R. Russell, State of Missouri Supreme Court.

In addition to the recognition of fallen comrades, the wearing of dress uniforms by all commissioned personnel, regardless of assignment, serves as a visual affirmation of the commitment of these public safety providers to their chosen profession. Black bunting will be placed over the main entrance of all St. Louis County precinct stations and at St. Louis County Police Headquarters in Clayton.

Reporters, photographers and television crews are invited to cover the ceremony but, as in the past, Media Activities will be restricted to preserve the solemn decorum. An audio distribution amplifier will be available so that television cameras and recorders can pick up the sound from the audio system.
