31-July-2013

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on Wednesday, July 31 18, 2013, on Raymond Chappell, 27 years of age, of the 8000 block of Lurch Street, St. Louis, Missouri 63140, for one count of Assault in the Second Degree of a Law Enforcement Officer and one count of Armed Criminal Action. A $25,000 bond has been issued. A photo of Chappell is attached.

Charges were issued after Neighborhood Enforcement Team officers operating out of the St. Louis County Police Department North County Precinct attempted to pull over a vehicle near Chambers Road and Jeffrey Drive for failing to yield. Chappell, a passenger in the vehicle, exited the passenger side with a handgun, which both officers witnessed. One of the officers shot at Chappell who dropped his weapon, a loaded and stolen 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, and ran away from the scene. Chappell was arrested a few blocks from the scene. No one was injured during the incident.
