St. Louis County Park Paved Trails

Trails By Surface Type

If you are willing to share the trail with hikers, bikers, and roller sport enthusiasts and don’t mind a little bit more traffic then head out to one of the many paved trails found throughout the park system. If you are looking for a more urban experience then check out the many neighborhoods and sites along Grant’s Trail in South County. This 7 mile Rails to Trails passes Grant’s Farm and everyone loves to see a Clydesdale. Thinking you can’t get away from it all on a paved trail, well think again. Rock Hollow Trail in West County offers just that. The trail follows a heavily wooded valley rich in spring flora for 2.3 miles. Or there is the Meramec Greenway Trail segment in Lower Meramec Park. This trail traverses one of the most diverse woodlands found along the Meramec River. Large swamp white oaks and pin oaks shade the trail throughout the summer months. Still looking for more? Of course there is Creve Coeur Park with its many paved trails and a connection to Katy Trail. Still not satisfied, try Spanish Lake Park and the 1.6 mile Lakeside Trail. This trail encircles the 25 acre natural sinkhole lake. Discover why it is called “Spanish” Lake. The adventure does not end whether it is an earthen, rock or paved trail. Historical, cultural and the natural world can all be discovered and experienced.
