ST. LOUIS COUNTY LANDMARKS

Beginning in 1970, the Historic Buildings Commission has designated buildings, districts, and even objects that it feels are important to the county as a whole as “county landmarks.” This designation carries no restrictions but is intended to be an honor and to increase awareness of the county’s assets. The procedure for designation is posted elsewhere on this website.

Below are pictures and brief histories of landmarks that have been designated since 1970. They are listed by city, village or, in the case of unincorporated areas of the county, by the familiar name of the area, such as Affton, Lemay, and Spanish Lake.

More information about these landmarks may be available in the county’s files. To learn more, contact Esley Hamilton, Preservation Historian, at ehamilton@stlouisco.com.
