SOUTH COUNTY

Camp Kennedy at Kennedy Recreation Complex                      
Ages: 5-12
Cost: $65/camper
Days/Times: Monday - Friday / 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Children are grouped by age and enjoy crafts, games, nature programs, a special event cookout, sports and supervised recreational swim at Kennedy Recreation Complex. Camp is located at Kennedy Recreation Complex on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Camp is located at Suson Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bring a non-perishable lunch, snack, and beverage daily. Your kids will learn new magic tricks each day, often treating their parents to a nightly show! In this class students will learn the basics of animation and digital design. Students who enjoy going to various sites to see fun interactive animations will love this course. This class will utilize Adobe’s award winning animation software in Adobe Flash. Monday, June 19 - Thursday, June 22 / 1 - 4 p.m.
The course offers hands-on opportunities to build and program robots. Working in small teams, students will design robotics systems to compete in fun real-world activities. Each day will bring a new challenge, and your team's robot will have to morph to better adapt and compete. Students will compete in the battle bots competition at the end of the camp to prove their robot is the best. British Soccer Camp (by Challenger Sports)

“Secret Agent” Lab

Wings & Things - Mad Science Camp
Ages: 5 - 12

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It’s everything that flies! (Superheroes Excluded). From the earliest flying machines to the first rocket lights, this hands-on program will focus on aerodynamics and the world above us! Campers will build many different flying devices and put them to the test! Traveling further up, campers investigate the wonder of our very own Milky Way. They join their fellow “astronauts” as we send an awesome Mad Science rocket to the moon, well at least into the sky. Advance registration is required by calling (314) 991-8000.

Red Hot Robots - Mad Science Camp 
Ages: 7 - 11

Join us for a week of fun with amazing robots!  Learn about the uses of robots in our world and spend time experimenting with super cool red-hot robots.  Experiment with sound sensing robots, line-tracking robots, and more!  Discover the science of circuits and how robots use sensors to explore things around them.  Use your skills to build your very own working robot to take home with you!  This program is open to children entering 2nd-5th grade.

Outdoor Skills Camp 
Ages: 12-16
Cost: $150/camper
Location: GRC/Queeny Park
Days / Times: Monday - Friday / 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Attention outdoor enthusiasts!  If you ever wanted to learn to throw a tomahawk or shoot a bow and arrow, this is your chance.  Spend a week learning new outdoor skills.  This camp, hosted by St. Louis County Park staff, will teach outdoor skills in a variety of settings. Our unique camp will travel to several different parks, giving campers opportunities to visit a variety of areas while testing the waters on new skills. Learning the correct way to control a canoe, starting a fire with flint and steel, and hiking to a cave are just some of the experiences you will enjoy.   Knowledgeable staff and close supervision will allow the adventuresome camper to spread their wings in a safe and controlled environment.  Attempting new skills will be challenging as well as fun.  Age restrictions apply.  Space is limited, so sign up early.  For questions or to make your reservation, call 314- 615-8472.

Carousel Camp is a unique camp in that the children get carousel rides daily, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, plus the new addition of "wildlife explorer".  This part of the program will teach children to observe, value and respect the out of doors. To register call (314) 615-8345.

Youth Fishing Day Camps               
Ages: 8-15

St. Louis’ only “fishing” day camp is a big hit with kids! St. Louis County Park Rangers conduct the camp where children spend the week learning to be good anglers. Each day the group will venture out to a new fishing location. Meet in front of the Recreation Complex off of the Weidman Road entrance. Meet promptly at 8:30 a.m. Each child should bring their own non-perishable lunch and two water bottles. Fishing equipment will be provided. Advance registration is required. Call 314-615-4386.

Little Green Thumbs - Mad Science Camp 
Ages: 3-5
Cost: $145/child
Location: St. Louis Carousel at Faust Park

A five session preschool camp offering you children an exciting introduction to basic environmental science.  Each session is devoted to different aspects of the garden, allowing children to progressively enrich their understanding of how living things grow and how they interact with the environment around them.  During the course of each three hour session, children will perform hands-on experiments, play themed games and enjoy a snack and story related to the session’s theme.

Mad Science "Gross Out" Camp

Miss Manners might not approve but your child definitely will! Beginning 10/16, entry to the Scenic Circle at Jefferson Barracks Park will be closed due to construction on the Cannon Gates. Work will last approximately one week

 The restrooms at Lemay Park are closed for repair. Port-a-potties are in place. Shelter reservations are still available

Riverside trail at Simpson is open, however there is a 50 ft. section at the eastern most end that had to be re-routed and the footing is sand and dirt. Also, users should be cautious of sand smears across trail after rain events.

Unger Park is open to the shelter parking lot, but the trail is closed beyond the riverside parking lot

Sherman Beach and Al Foster trails are passable but have areas with sand and debris on them

* The Bottomland Trail along Grant's Trail was severely damaged during periods of heavy rain. For safety reasons, this short trail has been closed. Plans are being developed to relocate the trail away from Gravois Creek.

* The east side of Cliff Cave Road including the field, River Bluff trail and Spring Valley trail are closed at Cliff Cave Park for Construction.
