53 Arch Coal employee volunteers and 1 St. Louis County Parks Master Gardener volunteer celebrated National Arbor Day belatedly on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Queeny Park by gardening, spreading mulch, removing honeysuckle and assisting with other park maintenance needs. Arch Coal provided lunch for volunteers and Parks staff involved in the project. St. Louis County Parks' Mike Hodges, Mike Luedde and Doug Wolter coordinated the project with Arch Coal’s Margi Pennington. This was the fourth consecutive year Arch Coal provided employee volunteers and a lunch at Queeny Park to commemorate Arbor Day!
On Saturday April 13, 2013 a group of Michigan State Alumni - St. Louis Chapter volunteers - 27 total! helped Gateway Off-Road Cyclists (GORC) led by GORC’s Glenn Meyer) lead 74 total group and individual volunteers (31 GORC, 27 Michigan State Alumni, 6 Lafayette HS, 3 National Charity League & 2 Parkway North HS) to complete the new trail at Upper Creve Coeur Park.
12 T-Mobile St. Louis Engineering volunteers who helped Susan Tornetto and Tim Emmons clear portions of the Team Challenge Course at Greensfelder on May 15.
Webster University had 12 volunteers gardening at Queeny, 5 volunteers planting trees at McDonnell and 24 volunteers removing honeysuckle at Laumeier on Oct 2, 2013 in conjunction with Webster Works Worldwide (the 19th year for this community event sponsored by Webster University).
On Fri Jun 27, 32 youth and adult counselors from the Church of Ladder Day Saints (in conjunction with their youth Conference in St. Louis) volunteered from 11am-2pm at Creve Coeur Park putting mulch around beds at Sail Boat Cove. Creve Coeur's Mike Gangwes and Mike Lagemann supervised the volunteers, who were from both Missouri and Illinois. In addition, 24 LDS youth and adult counselors (attending same conference) volunteered at Museum of Transportation June 27; they emptied a historic refrigerator rail car completely of paper materials and did weeding.
