Purple Heart

The Purple Heart Award - may be awarded by the Board of Police Commissioners to a Department employee for a serious injury in the line of duty as a result of an action that was not the fault of the employee. Officers given this award receive: Gold Medal - Purple Breast Bar/Purple Lapel Pin - Certificate
