The Saint Louis County Assessor's Office discovers, identifies, classifies and assesses all real and personal property within Saint Louis County. Functionally, the Office is comprised of:

      • Abstract (Title Recording)
      • Appraisal Support
      • Assessment Systems
      • Personal Property
      • Real Property

The County Assessor is required by Missouri State Statute 137.115 to establish the fair market value of all real property as of January 1 of every odd year (like 2011 and 2013). The assessed value is applied to the tax rates established by the taxing districts to determine the amount of tax levied against a property.

The reassessment process involves establishing the value of about 389,000 parcels of real property, providing owners the opportunity to appeal, then finalizing, certifying and communicating the values to the individual taxing districts.

Throughout the process, the staff of the Assessor’s Office makes every effort to treat our customers fairly and to provide information in a clear and accessible manner.

Holiday Hours
The Assessor’s Department will be closed on Monday, January 2nd for the New Year's holiday. Our office will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Personal Property Declarations
Personal Property Declarations have been mailed to registered St. Louis County businesses and individuals who own tangible personal property.  Declarations must be returned to the Assessor’s Department by March 1st, 2012 to avoid a statutory penalty.

Tornado Damage
St. Louis County property owners whose property sustained damage by the April 2011 tornado may request a review of their property to insure an accurate and fair value for 2011 reassessment purposes. The form to request such a review can be found here. Adobe PDF Document
To consider a value adjustment, the Assessor is requesting additional detailed information about the damage you incurred during the April 2011 tornado. Complete the questionnaire below for either residential or commercial property and return to the Assessor’s office.
