Bureau of Fleet Management

  

Fleet Management consists of 26 mechanics working out of 5 repair facilities and 12 management, financial, and clerical staff.  They are responsible for maintaining a fleet of 3,300+ vehicles and equipment.

Staff members assist all St. Louis County Departments in developing specifications, bidding, and making recommendations for award for vehicles and equipment.  Fleet Management operates and maintains 9 fuel sites located throughout St. Louis County.  In an average year, they sell approximately 1.3 million gallons of fuel.  Fleet Management is under contract to provide automotive repair service to three municipalities and the St. Louis County Housing Authority.  In addition, they have contracts with seven municipalities and the West County EMS and Fire Protection for the sale of fuel.

Fleet Management continues to operate County auctions as the preferred method of disposal for surplus vehicles and equipment.  These public auctions generate additional revenues for St. Louis County.

The Bureau also operates the Department of Highways & Traffic and Public Works’ Safety Section.  Both the Fleet Manager and the Safety Administrator are responsible for review of all accidents and injuries within the department.The Safety Section oversees a Safety Committee that meets monthly to review all accidents and injuries to determine possible solutions to prevent reoccurrence.  They conduct inspections of all department owned facilities to ensure safety compliance, and generated the current Safety Manual which has been placed on the County Intranet site for all employees to access.


Bureau of Parking Garage Operations

The Parking Garage Operations Bureau is staffed by 6 employees.  They are responsible for the maintenance, parking assignments, and fiscal management of the Clayton Government Center Garages (Courts Garage, Shaw Park Drive Garage and Transit Center).  The Division is also responsible for the assignment of approximately 270 employees in the 8011 Bonhomme Garage and 206 monthly leases at the Shaw Park Drive Garage.  Parking assignments/removals are processed with the aid of parking coordinators in all County departments and State agencies.  Complete cleaning of the garages is performed twice a year with painting and signing performed as required.

The Bureau operates the Central Vehicle Pool to provide short-term transportation for employees without assigned vehicles.

The County and Metro offer Metro riders a monthly “Combo Pass” to service riders who wish to park at the Shaw Park Drive Garage and use MetroBus and MetroLink.  The “Combo Pass” is a monthly pass permitting the pass holder unlimited use of MetroLink and MetroBus along with one parking space in the Shaw Park Drive Garage for the month.
