Circuit Judge, Division 6

Judge Gaertner was sworn in as a circuit judge on July 14, 2000.

Judge Gaertner received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, magna cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Business. He received his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Law.

Judge Gaertner was an associate at the law firm of Bryan Cave prior to becoming a state prosecutor as an Assistant Circuit Attorney for the City of St. Louis. In 1995, Judge Gaertner was appointed a federal prosecutor as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri where he served as chair of the U.S. Department of Justice Insurance Fraud Task Force for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Judge Gaertner is a board member of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri and The Crusade Against Crime. He is also a member of the Catholic Church.

In 1999, Judge Gaertner received the John C. Shepherd Professionalism Award from the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Judge Gaertner, his wife and their six children reside in St. Louis County.
