Judge Whittington was sworn in as circuit judge January 19, 2002.

Judge Whittington received her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from St. Louis University.

Judge Whittington was appointed associate circuit judge in 1992. She was retained in 1994 and 1998 and served in that position until she was sworn in as circuit judge. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Whittington engaged in the private practice of law from 1987 to 1992. She served as assistant county counselor for St. Louis County from 1980 to 1987.

Judge Whittington serves on the Missouri Supreme Court Committee on Procedure in Criminal Cases. She is a member of the Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Circuit Judges and served as president, 2002-2003. She is also a member of the Missouri Bar, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, St. Louis County Bar Association, and Women Lawyers Association.

Judge Whittington and her husband reside in St. Louis County. They have two children.
