    Biography

Kathleen Kelly Burkett was first elected to represent the citizens of the 2nd County Council District in a 2002 special election. She was re-elected to a four-year term in 2004.

Kathleen has lived in the 2nd District all her life. She raised and educated her children here and has been deeply involved in community activities for many years. She managed a small service business in Overland for nearly 30 years and continues to work in the same field as a consultant. Throughout her career in public service, Kathleen has taken a special interest in public safety and has served as a Director of the Community Fire Protection District, President of the North Central County 911 Fire Alarm System, on a municipal Police Advisory Board and on the County Board of Highways and Traffic.

On the County Council, she serves on the Public Improvements Committee and is Chairman of the County Council . She continues to work to see that County Government and municipalities work together to end duplication that wastes taxpayer money. She is committed to development that protects our neighborhoods and promotes reasonable growth.

Kathleen has served on the Life Skills Foundation Board of Directors, and is a member of the Overland Business Association and the Women's Political Caucus. She belongs to the St. Louis Ambassadors and the North West Chamber of Commerce.
