The mission of the Health Education unit of Saint Louis County Department of Health is to promote healthy behaviors in collaboration with community partners. We provide health information programs, presentations and consultations that promote health and prevent disease.

We determine how those needs can best be met (policy development); and

Make sure this gets done (assurance).

We collaborate with community partners to provide programs and services to meet their identified needs.

• ABC Program - Education program About Better Choices for students in grades 6 - 12 that promotes abstinence as the safest and healthiest choice to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
• Child Care Health Consultation Programs - Education and consultation for educators in child care settings that promotes safe and healthy environments for children.
• Chronic Disease Primary Prevention Program (CDPP) - Education and advocacy training in the school setting to promote tobacco free lifestyles, physical activity and healthy eating.
• County School Nurse Liaison - Support for county school nurses in dealing with student health issues.
• Emergency Preparedness for Seniors Program – Education program to help seniors prepare for an emergency or natural disaster.
• Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (HDSP) - Education and emergency steps to take, especially to prevent a second heart attack or stroke.
• Hip Hop For Health Program – An obesity prevention program for school-aged students that combines nutrition education and physical activity.
• The Teenage Health Consultants Program (TAHC) - Peer education program in which trained high school students promote healthy decision-making with their peers.
• Workplace Smoking Cessation Program - Smoking cessation classes in the workplace and for new Americans.
