Mission:

St. Louis County Park Rangers provide a safe environment for park visitors, educate others about natural resources, provide outdoor programs and offer professional service to those visiting County Park areas

St. Louis County Park Ranger Volunteers:can assist Rangers with the various programs, events, resource management projects and bicycle patrols within the County Parks:

Park Ranger Programs

Park Rangers offer various programs to the general public throughout the year on a wide range of topics:

Outdoor Skills

  • Fishing Camp, children learn how to use a variety of bait and tackle and handle fish safely.
  • Hunter Safety Education, hunter responsibility, tradition and ethics, conservation and firearms safety.
  • Parent/Youth Camp Outs, learn as a family how to camp close to home.
  • Map and Compass Skills, learn how to read a compass and topography map.
  • Beginning archery for youth, learn the basics of target archery

Nature Series

  • Birding Programs, learn the different types of birds as the seasons change and why they migrate.
  • Pond Ecology, learn about aquatic life and forest animals that depend on ponds for water shelter and food.
  • Wildlife Hike, learn about the various types of wildlife native to the area and how to draw them to your backyard.
  • Wild Flowers, learn about the different types of flowers depending on the season.
  • Insects, why we need not fear them and how beneficial they are.
