Cliff Cave Park is an interesting and fun natural place to explore. It has upland forest, karst topography (caves & sinkholes), bottomland forest, wetlands, and Mississippi River vistas. You’ll be hitting the trail on this one, so wear hiking shoes or bring your bike, depending on which trail you choose. |

#1. Find the entrance to Cliff Cave. It has also been called Indian Cave because, like many others in the region, it was probably used as a shelter by Native Americans. No one is allowed in the cave without a permit, but you can get close enough to feel the cool air coming from the entrance. Find it? Yes or no? ____________ |

#2. Hike or bike at least one of the four trails in the park. There are three natural surface trails (better for hiking), and one 5.1 mile paved asphalt trail (great for biking). Take your pick (see trail maps): · RIVER BLUFF TRAIL (1 mi): Upland Forest/Bluff View · SPRING VALLEY TRAIL (3 mi): Karst Plateau (High, flat area with caves, sinkholes and a neat frog pond) · MISSISSIPPI RIVER TRAIL (5.1 mi): Shrub Wetland (Dries out during hot summer months) |
