Many people think that Greensfelder Park has more rustic beauty than any other St. Louis County park. Located in the foothills of the Missouri Ozarks, Greensfelder has lush, rolling hills and spectacular views. Come on out and explore! Wear your hiking shoes and bring water.

#1. Find Scenic Loop Rd., and take it to Beulah Shelter. Who was Beulah? _______________ Several things that belonged to Beulah are imbedded in the fireplace hearth and shelter floor. What are they? __________________

#2. As you continue along Scenic Loop Rd., watch for the glade restoration site on your left. About half way around the loop, you’ll see a sign with information about the glade. What does the park staff periodically do to maintain the characteristics of the glade? ___________________

#3. Find the entrance to Mud Cave. When you exit Scenic Loop, turn right and park at the Glassberg Shelter lot. Along the walkway, just past the “Park Service Vehicles Only” sign, you’ll see a path going down the hill on your left. Follow it for 450 feet to the cave. The cave is just one small room, but they don’t call it Mud Cave for nothing! Don’t go in without Mom or Dad, and old clothes and flashlights are a must! Find it? Yes or no? _______________

#4. Take a ride through the Greensfelder stable area. Find the outdoor horse arena. How many lights are pointed down on the arena? _______________

#5. Find the Greensfelder Round House Memorial parking lot. From there, hike to the memorial. Technically, the memorial is on state (Rockwoods Range) property, but is still public land. The round house was the Greensfelder’s summer cottage. What year was it built? ____________ What year was the memorial dedicated? ____________
