What's New
Metro Area March Employment Data
St. Louis Metro Area payroll jobs were reported as declining at a -.4% rate with 5,400 jobs lost between March 2007 and March 2008 for a total of 1,342,900 jobs. This is the first employment decline since 2004. In a separate survey of households, the unemployment rate for the metro area increased from 5.60% in March 2007 to 6.4% in March 2008.

2006 County Income Data
St. Louis County Per Capita Personal Income increased by 5.8% to $49,727 in 2006, highest in Missouri, and was 152 percent of the state average, $32,789, and 135 percent of the national average, $36,714. The 2005-2006 change was higher than the state change of 4.3 percent and the national change of 5.6 percent. The data was released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

County Employment and Wage Data for 3rd Quarter, 2007
St. Louis County had 611,900 wage and salary workers covered by unemployment insurance in September 2007, up .5% from September 2006. The data shows a positive growth trend in employment that has been consistent since November 2004. Average Weekly wages were up 6.3%, with the County ranking 27th among the 329 largest counties in the United States.

Outstanding Missouri School Districts
Seven out of 24 "outperforming" school districts in Missouri are located in St. Louis County. These seven districts were the only St. Louis metro area school districts to be defined by Standard and Poor as consistently outperforming demographically similar school districts. The districts are Brentwood, Clayton, Kirkwood, Ladue, Parkway, Rockwood and Webster Groves.
