Colonel Jerry Lee Chief of Police St. Louis County Police Department

Chief Lee was appointed to the position of Chief of Police on June 1, 2004 and is responsible for the overall operation of the almost 1000-member Department which serves a population of over 1,000,000 citizens.

Chief Lee was commissioned on March 9, 1970. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1983, Lieutenant in 1984, Captain in 1991 and Major in 1992. He has also served on the Probationary Committee for Sergeants and Lieutenants, the Police Officer Selection Committee and the Awards Committee. Previous commands have included Division of Operational Support, Division of Patrol, Tactical Operations, Staff Services, Criminal Identification, Security Services and Drug Enforcement.

Chief Lee's last assignment was Chief of Detectives of the Division of Criminal Investigation with responsibility for managing and directing the following Bureaus and Units:

Chief Lee has served on a variety of committees and boards during his career. He has served on the training, ethics, awards and professional standards committees for the Missouri Police Chiefs Association. He is the past President of the Eastern Missouri FBI National Academy Associates and past President of Law Enforcement Officials of St. Louis County. He currently serves on the Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Advisory Board.

Chief Lee obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from St. Louis University in 1976. He has attended the 140th Session of the FBI National Academy, the U.S. Secret Service Dignitary Protection Seminar, the Drug Enforcement Administration's Drug Commanders School and the 44th session of the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar. He is also a certified CALEA Assessor and Team Leader. In addition, Chief Lee has attended over 3,500 hours of training in a variety of law enforcement, leadership and management related areas.

Chief Lee is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Backstoppers, Missouri Police Chiefs Association, Missouri Peace Officers Association, American Society of Industrial Security, the FBI National Academy Associates, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association and the Professional Investigators Council. He also serves as a guest lecturer at the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy.
