On Wednesday, November 21, 2001, Chief of Police Ron Battelle announced that a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), will arrive December 15, 2001 to examine all aspects of the St. Louis County Police Department policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Chief Battelle stated, "Verification by the team that the St. Louis County Police Department meets the Commission's state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process of accreditation - a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence."

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session December 17, 2001 at 7:00 P.M. The session will be conducted in the Police Board Room B117, 7900 Forsyth Boulevard, Clayton, Missouri 63105.
