Make your property tax payment by mail or in person to the
Collector of Revenue at the County Government Center in
Clayton, 41 S. Central, St. Louis, Missouri 63105 (615-5500).
Personal Property: If you purchase a vehicle or move to St. Louis County after January 1st, you will not be taxed on the vehicle until next year. A tax waiver is issued to new residents of the State of Missouri, or to people who are buying their first vehicle. In order to apply for a tax waiver, you must present proof of ownership such as a title, title application, or a registration to the County Department of Revenue. Call 615-1500.
Real Estate Property: At the time real estate (land, home) is
purchased the taxes due are negotiated between the buyer and
the seller. Usually the amount is prorated for the number of months
each person owns the property. For more information, call 615-2555.
Duplicate receipts are available from the Collector of Revenue at
the County Government Center in Clayton or at any of the
County's satellite Government Centers. There is a $1.00 charge. A
receipt can also be mailed to you. For more information, call 615-1500.
There is no provision in Missouri law to allow for partial payments.
You must pay one full year at a time; interest and penalties will be
added for late payments. For more information, call 615-5500.
As of this time, we do not accept payments by Mastercard or Visa.
You can pay by mail with a personal or cashier's check. We will
accept cash or check payment at the County Government Center
in Clayton.
The State of Missouri has a law which requires the County to
reassess all real estate property every two years. For information
regarding your reassessment, contact the St. Louis County Assessor's
Office at 615-2555.
You can file an appeal with the Board of Equalization. If you are
not in agreement after their finding, you can file an appeal with
the Missouri State Tax Commission within 30 days of the Board's
