On Thursday, June 4, 2015, the St. Louis County Police Department’s North County Precinct will kick off their Positive Ticketing Program (PTP). The program will begin at 11:00 AM at the North County Precinct, located at 11815 Benham Rd, St. Louis, MO 63138.
North County Precinct Commander, Captain Norman Mann, along with the Reverend Larry Rice will be on hand to assist in the kickoff, as well as deliver police officer baseball style cards to children in the community.
PTP is a program geared towards rewarding good behavior and deeds done by area youth in the community and is designed to change the way policing is done in the St. Louis area. Positive Ticketing is a police and community program where police “catch” adolescents doing the right thing in the community, and reward them with a voucher or coupon for items such as hamburgers, ice cream, movie tickets, or tickets to sporting events. Positive Tickets are issued to youth by adults for exemplary behavior.
St. Louis County Police Officers will be encouraged to ticket youth who they observe engaging in positive behavior throughout the community. A child may also be nominated by members of the public. The issuance of these positive tickets will help the officers develop a rapport with local adolescents.
