Download Press Release(pdf)
The Department of Revenue is currently mailing 2016 property tax bills to St. Louis County property owners, and has posted the 2016 tax amounts on St. Louis County’s website www.stlouisco.com.
Real property tax bills are mailed prior to personal property tax bills. Self-addressed courtesy reply envelopes for mailing payments are included.
Deadline to pay your taxes:
December 31, 2016 – taxes must be paid or postmarked.
Last day to pay taxes in person:
Friday, December 30, 2016
Pay early, avoid Clayton:
During times of heavy customer service traffic – such as the last weeks in December, but especially December 29 & 30 - waiting outside is a definite possibility. All persons entering the building are subject to building security measures, and any contraband will be confiscated.
Pay by Mail:
Property tax bills include self-addressed courtesy reply envelopes for mailing payments. Real property and personal property tax payments may be included on one check and mailed in either of the envelopes.
Visit https://revenue.stlouisco.com/Collection/PayTaxes. Online payments via direct debit from a checking or savings account do not incur any additional fees, but credit and debit card payments are processed through a third party provider and are subject to a convenience fee.
Pay by Phone:
Call 1-877-309-9306 to pay by credit card over the phone.
Unless payment is made in person, receipts are mailed after the payment has been processed. Due to extended processing time in December and January, tax payers should not expect to receive a receipt shortly after mailing their payment. Duplicate receipts can be printed free of charge from our website after the payment has posted. These receipts are accepted for license plate renewal. Posting time for online and phone payments may take up to five business days. Duplicate receipts for prior years can be printed at any time.
A Convenience Fee will be charged by our third party provider for all credit and debit card payments:
VISA debit payments are charged a fixed fee of $3.95.
MasterCard debit and all credit card payments are charged a fee equal to 2.45% of the tax amount due or the minimum fee of $3.95, whichever is greater.
Credit cards accepted are Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
If you must visit in person, please see all office locations below. Due to year-end traffic, please expect longer than usual wait times at all locations.

St. Louis County offices are CLOSED
You cannot appeal your tax amount, but you can appeal your property value. The deadline to file an appeal to the St. Louis County Board of Equalization is set by state statute as the second Monday in July. Since that deadline has passed for 2016, your 2016 property value and corresponding tax amount cannot be changed, but you can file an appeal in 2017.
