St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger is pleased to announce that Greene County and the city of Springfield have both signed legislation to join the St. Louis County Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) database.
“Heroin is a deadly epidemic in our region and throughout the state,” St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger said. “Many users begin with prescription drugs. I commend these local governments for partnering with us to combat to the rapidly growing opioid and heroin abuse in our state.”
The St. Louis County PDMP began operation in April. With these additions, St. Louis County’s database will now cover 64% of Missouri’s population and 81% of all providers in the state.
This PDMP allows medical doctors and pharmacists to access prescribing information in an electronic database on opioid and other controlled substance prescriptions dispensed within the partner jurisdictions.
