Captain Juan Cox is the commander of the City of Jennings, Precinct 8. Captain Cox began his career with the St. Louis County Police Department in 1995. He was assigned to the Division of Patrol where he served in the North County Precinct. In 1997, Captain Cox was transferred to the Division of Criminal Investigation where he served as an Undercover Detective, Arrest Team member and Gang Intelligence Detective.
Captain Cox was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2003 and served as a Watch Supervisor in the North County Precinct. In 2004, he was transferred back to the Division of Criminal Investigation –Bureau of Drug Enforcement where he supervised a Long-Term Investigations group which was also federally detached to the F.B.I. Safe Streets Gang Task Force. In 2012, Captain Cox was transferred to the Division of Operational Support –Bureau of Professional Standards.
In 2013, Captain Cox was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Between 2013 and 2015, he served in the South County, North County and Central County precincts as Watch Commander.
On February 29, 2016, Captain Cox was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to the City of Jennings, Precinct 8.
Captain Cox is also a founding member of the St. Louis County Police Athletic league. He currently serves on the St. Louis County Police Athletic League Executive Board, and serves as the immediate supervisor to the PAL Supervisor and Coordinator.
Captain Juan Cox was born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois. He attended and graduated from Eastern Illinois University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Captain Cox also played football at Eastern Illinois University on a full athletic scholarship.
