Energy Efficiency/Green Building
In an effort to stabilize housing by enhancing affordability, the St. Louis County Office of Community Development (OCD), in partnership with Laclede Gas and a private developer, launched an energy study to determine the best prescription of green building techniques to control utility costs. The study, which was the first of its kind on a national platform, examined traditional building methods and various Energy Star features by means of a ten (10) home project known as Patrician Place. Funding for this endeavor was provided by a regional bank and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
