Each April, St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund honors an African-American health care professional who has made significant contributions in the field of behavioral health at the St. Louis American Excellence in Health Awards luncheon.
The Excellence in Mental Health Award was named after Dr. John M. Anderson, an African-American psychiatrist, who was a pioneer in the field of mental health in St. Louis. Like Dr. Anderson, each honoree demonstrates the values of generosity, excellence, inclusion, and integrity as well as visionary leadership through their passion and dedication to their life’s work.
